Shaznay Lewis fosters personal growth on new solo single 'Miracle'
Shaznay Lewis steps out from the shadows of self-doubt to reaffirm her place in the world of pop this week, with the unveiling of her first solo single release in 20 years, ‘Miracle’.
Co-written by the BRIT Award winning singer, along with Anthony Whiting (MIA) and Emily Phillips (Florence and the Machine), the captivating track finds a self-reflective Lewis make peace, and take ownership of her past as a way to reconnect with the woman, and the creative she is today.
Filled with poetic musings, and deeply profound realisations, the songs coming of age lyrics glide across the top of its cinematic production, to serve as something of a mantra for the beloved All Saints star, as she transitions into a new, and invigorating phase of her career.
Sharing her own personal take on life-affirming track, Lewis says via a press release: “‘Miracle’ was a journey, a relentless writing process between Emily Phillips and me. We pushed each other, we changed it a lot until, and when I finally listened to it I realised it was a love song to myself, about the person I’ve been for the past 25 years and where I am now. It’s a message of encouragement to return to my love of writing with self-esteem, and confidence in the way that made me happy.”

Since stepping back into the studio to work on new solo material in the summer of 2022, Shaznay has collaborated with an array of A-List talent, including Ben Cullum (Celeste), Michael Angelo (Sam Smith, Not3s), Johan Hugo (Self Esteem, Diplo), Jez Ashurst (Maisie Peters, Little Mix), Moyses Dos Santos (Freya Ridings), and Charlie Stacey (Ezra Collective).
Inspired by her personal love of music, Lewis has poured twenty years of life experience and her old school, no-autotune approach to classic soul, into a catalogue of new songs.
Two decades on from the release of her first studio album ‘Open’, her latest compositions serve as something of a re-introduction to the gift singer-songwriter, who first found success in the music business as a member of British girl group All Saints.
The band – made up of Melanie Blatt – and sisters Nicole and Natalie Appleton – made their debut back in the late 90s, capturing the imagination of an entire generation with hits such as ‘I Know Where It’s At’, ‘Never Ever’, ‘Pure Shores’, and ‘Black Coffee’.
