Namasenda Stuns On New EP, "Ambrosia"

Publish date: 2024-07-26

It feels like it’s been a while since Swedish artist Namasenda has last released new music. Even though she shared stunning droplets, such as her collaboration with Seinabo Sey and her contributions to the RIFT One and RIFT Two compilations over the course of the last few years, we were still aching for a new full-length project.

To our luck, today marked the day Namasenda released her brand new EP, “Ambrosia”. The title of the ten-minute release stands for “the food of the gods, conferring longevity or immortality upon whoever consumes it.” It features four new tracks. Among them are the lead single “maserati”, as well as her first song written entirely in Swedish, the electro dream-pop song “rosa” that invites you to bask in its soft pink lights.

Upon its first listen, “Ambrosia” feels familiar and yet completely different to what the artist has released so far. While her previous projects, among them the still-insanely-great “Wanted“, at times felt like a hectic ride, “Ambrosia” comes across as more collected and cohesive in sound. Whether it’s on the Brazilian funk- and Eurotrance-infused “deathrow baby” or the dreamy “rosa”: the listener is presented with an artist who seems to know exactly what she wants to sound like.

Talking on Instagram about her new release, Namasenda reveals that “it is my first time creating something since hb93 without facing challenges and hardships. im not the same person i was two years ago and i never want nor intend to be stagnant, so every decision i make will follow my evolution.” Namasenda is not afraid to take charge of her artistry and you can hear this in every note. We can’t wait for what is to come.
